Lovely Property for Rent in Provence

Les Cent Chênes is a old, fully restored stone property tucked in on the southward slope of the hill where the small village of Goussargues is found. The house actually consists of three stone cottages placed on a large gardened terrace, hidden by stone walls and oak trees. The small cottage

All three cottages and the pool are fully handicap accessible.

On the right, the small cottage, next to the swimming pool, serves as a guest room, sleeping two. It has a tea kitchen and a small bathroom. Terracing around this cottage includes an outside hot shower and a magnificent view of the valley to the East.

Main house
The main house
is in the center. It includes a comfortable living room with a flagstone floor, an old Provençal fireplace as well as a wood-burning stove. One end of the room is the kitchen area; next to it the bathroom.

Inside main house

This house is open-plan with a staircase leading up to an L-shaped gallery with a double bed. The whole house is charmingly furnished with antique family furniture.

Covered terrace
The bathroom leads to a covered terrace which runs between the main house and what is called the children's house. This terrace is a shady spot for eating in the summer, and it can be screened off with a canvas curtain. It has a small fireplace for chilly evenings and barbecuing.

Front view
There is a further terracing adjacent to the covered terrace, as well as a large terrace in front of the main house, both with garden furniture, a large table and benches for eating outside. An outside stone staircase leads to a small terrace with a lovely view and the entrance to two bedrooms, each sleeping two, one of which has a small bathroom.

Children house

The children's house
, like the main house, is open-plan. It sleeps three, has a small kitchen and bathroom at one end.

Bedroom

The floor is tiled, and there is also a small wood-burning stove. Water in both houses is gas heated.

The pool
The pool, not quite rectangular, is tiled and measures approximately 7 meters by 4 ½ meters, the depth changing from 1 meter to 1.8 meter, and is serviced twice a week. It is terraced on three sides, and under the terrace one finds a washing machine and utility area. The house as a whole has in addition a dishwasher, microwave oven, freezer, three small refrigerators (one in each house), and satellite TV.

A house book in English contains all relevant information about running the house as well as information about the surrounding area. A collection of maps and guides are available for use.
